Re: Harbour Suites Outbreak & Updates
Norovirus Outbreak on Harbour Suites
We have residents on Harbour Suites home area presenting with enteric symptoms (vomiting, and diarrhea). In consultation with Public Health on December 12, 2025, the pathogen is Norovirus. Norovirus is a very contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. It is sometimes called the "stomach flu" or the "stomach bug." However, norovirus illness is not related to the flu. The flu is caused by the influenza virus. Norovirus causes acute gastroenteritis, an inflammation of the stomach or intestines.
Most people with norovirus illness get better within 1 to 3 days; but they can still spread the virus for a few days after. It is extremely important to ensure that if you are visiting, you regularly wash your hands with soap and water and also use hand sanitizer. It is recommended that you do not eat or drink while visiting the home area; which is in keeping with our universal masking on all home areas.

Holiday Get Together Events – Cancelled
Unfortunately, due to the outbreaks occurring in the facility, Public Health has recommended we cancel all the upcoming Christmas Get Togethers on December 13th and 20th. All families that have given their RSVP will be contacted directly by the Programs Coordinator about this cancellation.
The Programs department will plan an outbreak friendly and fun program for the residents. We apologize for the late cancellation of these programs, as we know that you and your family members were looking forward to attending these events.
